The Kuala Lumpur Tin Market Weekly Review 13 – 17 Jan 2020 (17 Jan 2020)

Tin trading on the KLTM during the third trading week of January was on an upward momentum, with tin prices increasing throughout the week and was in line with the movement of tin prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME).

Tin prices remained unchanged over the weekend to settle at US$17,120 per tonne on Monday. Thereafter, they rose all the way towards end of the trading week by US$160, US$70, US$100 and US$150 per tonne to settle at US$17,280, US$17,350, US$17,450 and US$17,600 per tonne on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday respectively.

The upward momentum was due to strong buying support especially from Japanese and European traders. Buyers dominated the market while sellers were not so eager to participate.

The total volume of tin traded during the week increased to 101 tonnes, compared to the previous week volume of 96 tonnes.
