Tin trading on the KLTM
during the first trading week of February was on an upward momentum and was in
line with the movement of tin prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME).
Tin prices rose by
US$260 per tonne over the weekend to settle at US$16,280 per tonne on Monday.
They strengthened further by US$50, US$30, US$230 and US$160 per tonne on
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to settle at US$16,330, US$16,360,
US$16,590 and US$16,750 per tonne respectively. The upward momentum was backed
by high demand.
The total
volume of tin traded during the week declined to 83 tonnes, compared to the previous
week volume of 89 tonnes.
